The Missing Marvels of Mallory Morell
A Game for Shadows for Blades in the Dark by John Harper
Many GMs have struggled getting to grips with narrative first gaming. This project aims to give a helping hand, with plenty of information to run scores, without creating a linear path to how to get it done. You'll get lists of NPCs, obstacles, clocks and quick devil bargains - use as much or as little as needed.
In our story, there was a famous inventor - an evil genius some will say - named Mallory Morell. After pushing her luck too far, she vanished with all her wealth, knowledge and artefacts just before the Spirit Warden broke through her door. A crew finds a secret: she left behind a code, pieces of which are secreted into some of her surviving creations - the Mallory Marvels. Those who hold the complete code can find her missing trove. Wealth. Power. Knowledge. Fame. It's all there for the taking.
The complete work will include over ten full scores, a list of contacts and fences, and a new entanglement table representing the efforts of the special inspectorate division as they hunt down the crew and tighten the net on their operation.

I haven't played much BitD but this looks like an awesome project! I was wondering how far along it is? Will we see it available somewhere in the near future?
I keep meaning to get back to it but I've lost some of the story in my head. One day I'll give it a good push, but it won't be soon I'm afraid. Real Life got in the way.
Just finished running The Twin Train Typewriter Trial tonight, and the crew had a blast. They split up, with one pair burgling one typewriter (with only the minor inconvenience of having to bundle an unconscious porter out a train window), while the other involved distracting the witch while seducing the captain...and ended with a VOLUNTARY leap out the train window. Great fun from a very well-written scenario!
My only piece of feedback is this: On p. 32, you write, "Until recently, the machines sat in the embassy in Imperial City and U’Duasha". If that's where they were, why/how would one of them be on a train out of Doskvol?
Re: P32 - It's a poorly constructed sentence, and bizarrely something that popped into my head a couple of weeks ago. I think it was part of another idea that I dropped but forgot to edit the sentence. Will fix it, thank you!
Very thrilling to hear - poor porter! Thank you for taking the time to report back!
We're running The Twin Train Typewriter Trial this Saturday, we're very excited for this Heist!
Please tell me how it goes!!!
Just wrapped up the session - it was fantastic! Clocked in at about 3.5 hours with 5 players. They impersonated the train crew for the first part, and then bungled a seduction that turned into a stickup for the second part. A convenient rockslide the Spider arranged during a flashback slowed each train enough to hop between. The Iruvians on Train 2 were problematic, but they won the day and delivered the devices back to their patron Lord Scurlock. Got compliments form the players afterwards. I'm really looking forward to more Heists!
Wonderful, what an interesting idea to have a rockslide (trust a Spider player to think of that). Thank you for reporting back in! Hopefully, I'll get back to work on this later this year.
The graphic design is Gorgeous! And I love the layers of content - I've already pulled some of the spoils and NPCs into my current game, and I'm hoping to use them to build into some of the scores here.
Would love to hear how it goes!
This all looks awesome! I'll try it out in my next session. Ten scores like this would be a dream! How is the writing process going?
I'll provide feedback as soon as my party does both of them. Meanwhile, I registered here just to say thanks!
This is beautifully laid out, can't wait for the final product!
Thank you so much. Sadly it's been on hold for quite a while as Real Life™ got in the way, but I really need to get back into the zone for it. Let me know how the scenarios go and what works/didn't!
Very grateful for those who are paying for this very WIP setup. I really would love to hear if the modules worked for you in any way!
